TANCET

What is TANCET?

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is the entrance examination which is conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for candidates who seek admission to M.B.A., M.C.A., & M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. Degree Programmes in Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility

1. MBA : Any Degree.

2. MCA: A pass in any recognised Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 school level. (or) A pass in any recognised Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

3.M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.:

Those who have bachelor engineering degree (or) those who are appearing for final year / semester examination are eligible to take up this exam.

Exam pattern

MBA

The Question paper will have 5 parts with 100 objective type questions

PART 1. To evaluate the candidate's ability to pick out critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.

PART 2. To evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.

PART 3. To evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems of graduate level including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level.

PART 4. To test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using data given plus the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day - to - day facts.

PART 5. To test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

MCA

The Question Paper will have 100 objective type questions which consists of

i) Quantitative Ability

(ii) Analytical reasoning

iii) Logical reasoning

(iv) Computer awareness

There may also be few questions on verbal activity, basic science etc.

M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.

The question paper will have 15 parts. Part 1 (Mathematics) has 30 questions. Part 2 (Basic Engg. and Science) has 45 questions. Part 1 and Part 2 are common for all the candidates. Parts 3 to 15 relate to various disciplines such as Civil, Mech. etc. each part consisting of 40/45 questions. Candidate has to choose any one of the disciplines and has to answer all the questions in that discipline. The questions will be of scholastic aptitude type.
