Introduction

This industry basically involves manufacturing of various types of fabrics both natural and synthetic as well as of production machinery and application of new technology. The industry has categorized in three major areas of work namely research and development, manufacturing and merchandising. The basic portal of Textile Engineers is to find new synthetic materials, fabrics, textures; experiment with dyes and weaves, fabric strength; develop and adapt new technologies. The development of textile industry in India is taking place very rapidly. The textile industry in India is one of the largest in the world and is still growing. It thus has an immense career potential.

 

Eligibility

Those who have passed the plus Two/equivalent examination or three-year diploma holders in any branch of engineering/equivalent examination are eligible for admission

Job Prospects

  The most obvious employers of textile technologists are manufacturing companies in retail and the clothing industry However, there are many other potential employers within a variety of industry sectors.
In the field of industrial textiles there are specialist employers in geotextiles, medical textiles, industrial clothing, furnishings and ropes. The main growth sector within the industry is technical textiles which involves in the development of technologies for performance fabrics and non-wovens for the automotive, defence, detergent and paper industries, plus transportation, construction, healthcare, aerospace, agriculture and IT.
